Why Powder Week?

We designed Powder Week as a stepping stone for riders to get introduced to off-piste and backcountry riding in a safe environment as a group. Get to meet riders of higher ability levels and push yourselves to explore deeper into the backcountry. Prepare yourself to experience the most incredible terrain and powder Niseko has to offer.

What riding ability is required?

High intermediate to advanced riding levels are required to participate in Powder Week. As we will be exploring mainly off-piste and backcountry terrain, a minimum proficiency handling black runs comfortably and confidently is required. If you are uncertainty on your riding level, please contact us for an analysis before signing up.

ITINERARY

A dedicated powder experience designed specially for you

Day 1: Arrival

Arrive at Sapporo’s New Chitose Airport, hop on the airport shuttle and make your way to The Ride Side’s winter lodge. Check-in, meet the crew for the week and get cosy as we brief you on Niseko’s ski resorts and attractions. For those who arrive early, you will get the chance to hit the slopes on day 1.

Day 2: Warm up with Annupuri's Gates

We’ll start the week off at Annupuri Ski resort. Famous for its powder, gates and backcountry terrain, you’ll get the day to find your feet again before we kick it up a notch.

DAY 3: Hirafu/ Hanazono & Avi-Safety Training

Today, we’ll ascend Niseko’s peak as a crew and drop into Hanazono’s backcountry terrain. Learn how to pick your the lines and choose the best runs for the day. In the afternoon, we’ll head to our Avalanche safety briefing for first-hand experience on using Beacons, probes and shovels.

DAY 4: Backcountry Touring Day

On this guided session, you’ll get first hand touring experience and knowledge through the backcountry. Gain insights on how to read terrain and travel efficiently in the backcountry and get the chance to use snowshoes and splitboards if you are up for it.

DAY 5: Lift Access BC - Goshiki Onsen

Hone the skills you’ve learnt from your touring experience as we explore Niseko’s back bowl and ride all the way to Goshiki Onsen to get a well-deserved dip in a traditional Japanese onsen. Didn’t get enough? A small hike will allow you to drop into Moiwa for more.

DAY 6: Iwanai

Today we travel to Iwanai to explore the best of Hidden Hokkaido. At the resort, you’ll have the option to do a full day Cat Ski Tour (8-10 runs), a Cat Assisted Experience, or get lift access (available as add-on's). Think fresh runs for days!

DAY 7: Exploring Beyond Niseko

On our last day, we’ll head out of Niseko to neighbouring resorts of Rusutsu or Kiroro. Based of snow conditions, our crew will decide the best resort for the day.

Day 8: Departure

Before you know it, Saturday would have come again and it’s time to say goodbye. Enjoy your final day in Japan’s never-ending snow as you bid farewell to friends new & old and you make your way to your next destination.
